Ethics has its roots in the deepest beliefs of human beings. Many ancient Iranian texts emphasize the importance of adhering to ethical principles. In Iran's mythological and epic narratives, we find examples of foreign enemies who, despite being in conflict with Iranians, chose to assist them. This study refers to such individuals as "Aniranians" and aims to explore the reasons behind their assistance, asking whether ethical values and good intentions played a role in their decisions and to what extent.
This research is a theoretical one, based on a library method, using sources such as ancient Iranian texts and Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh. It focuses on Turanian Aniranians, who are lesser-known compared to other heroes in these stories, yet are selected from both ancient texts and the Shahnameh for examination.
These Aniranian figures, who helped Iranians in various situations, sometimes acted out of personal gain or interest. However, the study reveals that the majority of them were motivated by a desire to preserve ethical values. These individuals range from mythical figures like Afrasiab, who provided indirect support to Iranians through his political power, to characters like Aghriras and Piran, who acted out of chivalry and moral principles. Ultimately, the study concludes that the influence of Iranian ethics inspired these Aniranians to act nobly and offer help, whether for personal benefit or higher moral purposes.
