Abstract
The story of Bahram Gur's journey to the hunting grounds in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh is one of the significant tales related to the character of Bahram Gur, the geographical location of which has not yet been precisely identified or thoroughly studied. This research aims to answer the question: "Where is the historical geography of this story, based on written documents, located?" To achieve this, a descriptive-analytical method with a comparative approach has been utilized. Historical and literary data are examined and compared with geographical evidence, including field research. The findings indicate that locations such as "Barqveh" correspond to the city of Abrquh in Yazd province, while "Jaz" aligns with the Jazestan region, which is located near Abrquh. Furthermore, field evidence suggests that the hunting grounds of Bahram Gur were situated in an area between Kaserud and the border mountains of Abrquh and Abadeh. This conclusion is consistent with archaeological findings, such as the Rabat Shahneshin and the Tell of Bahram's Palace. The research provides a clear and accurate representation of the historical geography of this story, offering a better understanding of its geographical context. Moreover, it serves as a foundation for further studies and future research in this field, opening new avenues for exploration in the history of Persian literature and geography.
